Peyton Hope Thayer

Peyton is a senior at Rosepine High School.  She is a catcher on the RHS Softball team. She is a member of FBLA, 4-H, Interact Club, a Senior Representative for Student Council, Beta, FCA, FFA & .  She enjoys reading by the pool, exploring new places with her dog Duke, playing softball at RHS, working out at the gym, and spending time with her friends and family.

Peyton has been named Ms. FBLA, a state qualifier in 3 FBLA state events.  She also the current president of the Rosepine FBLA.  

While playing softball, Peyton has been awarded Most Improved Player award, Defensive Player award, and All District Honors both her Sophomore & Junior years.

Peyton continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA and plans to continue her education at Louisiana State University to study Dentistry.

               James Eaves 

  


The Beauregard Parish Fair would like to congratulate and Thank Mr. Eaves for time and dedication he has given over the years.

A native of Merryville, La. James Eaves was born in 1936 to James and Georgia Eaves. Living his childhood in Merryville he Graduated for Merryville High School in 1955. He continued his education at McNeese University earning a degree in Agriculture in 1959.

He started his life with his wife Maxine Wilson in 1959 and was married for 45 years until Mrs. .Eaves passing in 2004. Maxine was known for many years as “Mother President” for the Beauregard Parish Fair.

During James and Maxine marriage they had three children, Milton, Darrell, and Michael. James has been a member of the Merryville Methodist Church since 1948.

Retired Major of the United States Army he served many tours over the years. Two tours in Vietnam, New Mexico, Arizona, Germany, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Korea. After Mr. Eaves retired from the Army he went to work for Entex Gas Company and also retired from there.

Serving his community James has served on the Beauregard Parish School Board and numerous other boards to include the Beauregard Parish Fair Board.

James and his late wife were also active square dancers and served as the president of the La. Square Dance Association and over the years were members of the Tn., Ky., Az., La., and Korea.

In 1990 James and Maxine started “The Mayhaw Patch”. The “Maxine” tree came about in 1992 the second year after transplanting from the Bearhead Branch that runs through his property. Giving big beautiful berries and blooming late it became a project to watch. After taking the cuttings from these tree and giving to Billy Craft and Bobby Talbert they asked for, he told them the tree must be called the “Maxine “tree. That was in 1996.
